Q.01 What is a pickleball round robin generator?
A pickleball round robin generator creates a rotation schedule where partners and opponents change every round, so everyone plays with and against as many different players as possible. Q.03 Can I get the round robin schedule in Excel instead of a spreadsheet I build myself?
Yes — every schedule is also downloadable as an Excel (XLSX) file, so you can type player names straight into the sheet instead of building a rotation formula yourself. If you would rather skip paper and spreadsheets entirely, the live mixer runs the same rotation from your phone.
Q.04 How does a round robin work with more players than courts — like 10 players on 2 courts?
Each player count has schedule variations for different court counts. With 10 players on 2 courts, 8 play each round and 2 get a bye (sit-out); the schedule rotates the byes so bench time evens out across the session. The same applies to 9 players on 2 courts, 12 players on 2 courts, and every other combination listed.
Q.05 How many games does everyone get — can I stop early, say at 8 games each?
Every schedule runs up to 18 rounds, but you can stop early: each sheet marks its "even stop" rounds, where every player has played the same number of games. For example, with 12 players on 2 courts, stopping at round 12 lands everyone on exactly 8 games; with no sit-outs, games simply equal rounds. At roughly 10 minutes a game, 18 rounds is about a 3-hour session — most groups stop well before the sheet runs out.
Q.06 Is there a rotation chart for a specific court count — like 16 players on 3 courts?
Yes. Each player-count page lists a rotation chart per court count. For 16 players on 3 courts, 12 play and 4 sit out each round, sitting in turn — that variation is on the 16-player page as a printable PDF and Excel sheet, alongside the 4-court version where everyone plays.
Q.07 How are byes handled with an odd number of players?
Odd counts work the same way as any overflow: the extra players sit a bye that round, and the rotation spreads byes evenly across the session. Every player-count page shows how many sit-outs each variation carries per round, so you can pick the trade-off you prefer.
Q.08 What is the difference between these printable schedules and the live mixer?
The printable schedules are fixed rotations — ideal when everyone arrives on time and plays the whole session. The live mixer uses the same rotation logic but re-solves it every round, handling late arrivals, drop-outs, fixed partners, mixed doubles, and skill-balanced matchups for 4 to 150 players, free in any browser.
