What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer or mobile device when you visit our website. They help us make your experience better by remembering your preferences and providing essential functionality.

How we use cookies

We set three cookies, all first-party. None of them track you.

• auth_token — keeps you signed in between visits. Lasts 30 days (90 if you tick “Remember me”) and is renewed while you keep using the site. Essential.
• picklefriend_session — your session while you browse, including the token that protects forms from forgery. Lasts 24 hours. Essential.
• pf_action_buttons_pos — remembers where you put the mixer's action buttons (top or bottom). A preference; lasts one year. Without it the buttons simply go back to the default position.

Browser storage (localStorage)

In addition to cookies, we use your browser's localStorage to store data locally on your device. It is used for:

• Storing your mixer session data and game history
• Remembering your preferences (e.g., court names, settings)
• Keeping track of which game you're currently viewing

localStorage is not sent to our servers with each request the way cookies are. If you use the mixer without signing in, this data never leaves your browser.

If you are signed in, two of these things are also saved to your account on our servers, so they follow your group to every device and co-organizer: the group's mixing settings (and the name of the preset they came from), and the mixer session itself, which syncs so it can be resumed elsewhere and so players can enter scores. Your browser's copy then acts as a cache of what is on the server. Court names and other display preferences stay on the device.

Without a paid plan, mixer session data kept in localStorage is retired after about a day without mixing (a few days if the session has never been mixed): the next time you open the Mixer, a screen asks whether to save the session's players into your group (free) or start fresh — nothing is removed until you choose. Clearing your browser's storage removes this data immediately, along with everything else listed above.

No tracking or advertising technologies

We do not use any tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party advertising technologies on our website. We do not track your behavior across websites or share your data with third parties for advertising.

Our only analytics is self-hosted (Matomo). It sets no cookies, truncates IP addresses before storage, and never receives your name or email (signed-in visits carry a one-way hash of your account number, explained in the Privacy Policy) — no data is sent to any analytics company. See our Privacy Policy for the full details of what we collect and the two third-party services we use (Cloudflare Turnstile for bot protection at signup, and PayPal for payments).

Managing cookies

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can:

• View the cookies stored on your computer
• Delete all or specific cookies
• Block cookies from specific websites
• Block all cookies
• Delete all cookies when you close your browser

Note: Blocking essential cookies may prevent some features of the website from working properly.
