Mixed Doubles

Pickleball mixed doubles — balanced every round.

Free, no-signup mixed doubles randomizer that keeps men and women balanced across courts, rotates fresh partners and opponents every round, and handles groups of 4 to 150 players. A mix generates in milliseconds, online or offline.

    Instant court assignments with balanced gender, fresh partners, fresh opponents, and fair sit-outs.

// 02 Why it's different

Fresh partners. Fresh opponents. Every round.

A pure random shuffler will happily pair the same two people three rounds in a row. PickleMixer's algorithm tracks who has already played with and against whom across the full session, then prefers combinations it hasn't produced yet.

Combined with mixed doubles, that means every player rotates through a steady stream of partners and opponents of the opposite genderno repeats until the algorithm has exhausted every fair option. That's what "smart randomizer" means in practice.

The engine reads each player's gender from the roster, then assembles each round from a mixture of mixed-doubles, men's-only, and women's-only courts — whatever combination gives the freshest outcome that round. Sit-outs rotate fairly across everyone regardless of gender.

// 04 Group sizes

From a single court to a full league night.

The mixed doubles randomizer handles any group size up to 150 players. With small groups it generates clean rotations instantly; with extreme player-to-court ratios it distributes sit-outs fairly across the entire roster so no one gets stuck on the bench.

Late arrivals can be added mid-session with the shoo-in feature — no need to re-mix or restart. Drop someone out of the rotation temporarily? One tap and the mixer routes around them on the next round.

9 questions
Q.01 How does the mixed doubles randomizer assign teams?
Set each player's gender in the roster, choose the gender-aware preset, and the mixer keeps men/women balanced across courts every round. It will produce mixed doubles courts whenever the count allows, and fall back to all-men or all-women courts only when the gender split forces it.
Q.02 What if I have an uneven number of men and women?
The mixer handles uneven splits automatically by combining court types within the same round — mixed-doubles courts (one man and one woman per team), men's-only courts, and women's-only courts in whatever combination fits the players who showed up. The exact mix varies round to round: the algorithm picks among the valid combinations based on what gives the freshest partners and opponents, so the same group might see more mixed-doubles courts one round and more same-gender courts the next. On truly lopsided ratios — say seven men and one woman — one court can end up with an unavoidable three-and-one gender split, but partner and opponent freshness is still optimized on every court, including that one. Sit-outs rotate fairly across all players regardless of gender.
Q.03 Can I have women-only and men-only courts?
Yes. Set each player's gender in the roster and pick the gender-aware preset. The mixer will create all-women, all-men, and mixed-doubles courts automatically based on who's playing — and rotate fairly across them every round. You don't need to assign players to specific courts manually; the algorithm handles it.
Q.04 Can I force only mixed-doubles courts, or only same-gender courts?
Yes. You can lock the mixer to only mixed-doubles courts, only same-gender courts, or leave both formats enabled (the default). Locking to mixed-doubles only tells the mixer to produce mixed-doubles courts (one man and one woman per team) wherever the ratio permits — useful for a dedicated mixed-doubles night. Locking to same-gender only produces all-men and all-women courts — useful when you want a clear men's night or women's night with no mixed play. Both enabled is the most flexible: a single round can contain mixed-doubles courts, men's-only courts, and women's-only courts side by side, with the mixer choosing the combination that gives the freshest rotation. None of these modes require an exact gender ratio — if the players don't divide cleanly into your chosen format(s), the mixer fits as many clean courts as it can and the leftover lands on a single unsolved court for that round.
Q.05 Does it remember past partners and opponents?
Yes. PickleMixer's algorithm tracks who has played with and against whom across the session and prefers fresh combinations every round. Pure randomizers don't do this — they often pair the same people together repeatedly.
Q.06 Can I combine mixed doubles with rating-balanced teams?
Yes. Enable both gender-aware mixing and rating-balanced teams at the same time. The mixer will satisfy both constraints — keeping mixed-doubles structure while balancing each court's combined skill. See the rating-balanced randomizer.
Q.07 Do I need an account to use the mixed doubles randomizer?
No. The randomizer is free and works without signup. Your roster and game history are saved in your browser. Optional free accounts add cloud sync and saved player groups.
Q.08 How many players can it handle?
Up to 150 players in a single session. The fairness algorithm scales — even with extreme player-to-court ratios it distributes sit-outs evenly across the group.
Q.09 Can I lock specific mixed-doubles pairs?
Yes. Use the link feature in the roster to pin couples or training partners as fixed partners. The mixer will keep them together every round while still rotating opponents and sit-outs fairly. See the fixed-partner randomizer.
